Unity Tutorial 05

I found the unity clock tutorial interesting. I found creating the clock face quite trick at first but then as i kept going, it got easier and easier. I learned that changing the scale of the clock allows you to manipulate the clock in any way you want, for example typing (0,5,0,0.2,1) turns it into a flat and narrow block. i also had to set the indicator at 30 degrees and copy that all the way around the clock. I then had to attach the arms of the clock  and assign hours, minutes, and seconds to each arm. to do this i had to use code. This was by far the hardest part of the assignment and took me a while to fully understand , i feel like the instructions didn't fully explain certain aspects of what we were to do. I did like the fact that the images were motions pictures, so we could see what the clock was supposed to look like at each stage. but over all i thought it was an OK assignment, by far not the most exciting thing I've ever had to do. i would be interested to hear

Game Elements

It was interesting reading about the different elements of games and how players interact with each other within the game and the game system. For example you can have 1 v 1 games such as Chess and you can also have multi-player v multi-player games such as Call Of Duty. link . The second factor was the objective the player has to achieve such as capturing or destroying a certain area of the map, or eliminating the opponent team till your team reaches a certain amount of kills, a third option would also be a chase/escape game such as Temple Run or Super Mario bros. link .  the last factor would be to have a certain theme for your game, weather it be set in the future, or in the past, having a theme for your game give's the game more of an emotional connection for the player. Having a theme can also make the game easier to learn and play. link . ( Game Objectives )

Feedback Thoughts

I thought Neil Gaiman's advice on the creative life was brilliant, because he gave me a lot of advise on what its like to work in a creative field and the challenges that arise, and that you need to be OK with failure and thick skinned. He also talked about how if  your doing something that you enjoy doing it wont feel like a choir. He brought up an interesting point on how most people are doing jobs for the money rather than what they have always wanted to do, which i thought was a valid point, because i would much rather do something i love and not get much money for it rather than going into a job i hate and getting good my, at the end of the day, your happiness is what matters the most. I also really liked his point on not being afraid to make mistakes, and even going as far as to tell us to make mistakes, and how you should 'make good art' in all the different struggles you might face in like and use it as inspiration.    (Self Doubt) John Spencer's th

Game Brainstorm

My first game Idea is based on secondary school PE class, and the game will be based on Dodge ball, where you play as a character who is trying to eliminate all his/her appointment's by hitting them with a Dodge ball, it gets progressively harder the higher the level, with an increase in the number of opponents and an increase in their accuracy. There would also be a change in location, depending on how high you climb up in the rankings. Quite a simple idea that I think I can expand on, and broaden. My second idea is inspired by a TV programme called 'Total  wipe out" and it's about contestants having to go through a obstacle course that is surrounded by water. The aim is to avoid going into the water and make it to the other side. There will be a lot of obstacles that will try and knock you off such as the "wall punch" players will have to time there movements in order to avoid the wall of raining fists. That's just one of the many obstacle course id

Unity Tutorial 01

I thought the unity tutorial was very interesting and fun, at first I thought it was quite confusing with all the new things I had to learn, but after a watching the first tutorial on the basics of unity, it really helped me while progressing into the next video. I liked how easy the guy in the video was to understand, and how to shows you how everything works. I thought it was cool how we were manipulating the terrain into mountains that then transitioned into grass lands and them added colours to suit the different terrain it's was cool. (Game development) I also thought it was interesting how you could blend the grass and the dirt together to make it look more realistic. It was nice to see how he Used the textures and shades for objects to suit how he wanted the object to look. I like how we could control the density and randomise the tree and grass size depending on what figures we type and place the trees with just a click of a button. I also really liked how you
