Review Week Comments and Feedback

Image
Overall i thought that commenting was OK, it was interesting to see other peoples thoughts on my work, and also quite strange when it came to giving feedback on other peoples work.It was also cool to see other people's thoughts on your work and interesting to see their point of view. (commenting)

Week 9 Reading and Writing

Image
Overall the reading and writing assignments were OK, the most interesting parts i found were the YouTube tutorials and the actual game making part of it all. I wasn't really into reading, although it was interesting to learn all the different things that go into game development. So far I'm happy with my game design but it still needs some work/ fine tuning with code and everything.  (Gaming)

Unity Free Tutorial

I really enjoyed the effects tutorial because it thought me about the basics of creating effects on unity. I thought it was cool how we were manipulating the terrain into mountains that then transitioned into grass lands and them added colours to suit the different terrain it's was cool. (Gaming) For the next tutorial we learned how to add objects that can be taken in the environment. So we had to write code that allows us to pick up a weapon. The next thing we learned was a fade screen, this is a black screen that displays on the screen for as long as it takes for you character to load into the game, or for as long as you wan it. Overall i though that this is we an easy tutorial to follow, although i thought they might have been compressed into a smaller time-frame, but i still learned a lot from it.

Game Fun

I thought the article on MDA was very interesting, It thought me about the iterative, quality and quantitate. And how rules , system fun are the main components for creating a game. And then establishing their design counterparts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MDA I like how it also explains the ascetics, and goes into what makes a game fun. for example games like quake would express a challenge , the sims and final fantasy, the sims express the discovery, fantasy, expression, and Narrative etc. http://gamedevelopertips.com/mechanics-dynamics-aesthetics-game-design-theory-behind-games/ The document on hearts clubs diamonds and spades was also very interesting it talks about the inter relationship of two dimensions of playing style. https://www.meeplemountain.com/top-six/top-6-abstract-games-games-about-nothing-and-everything/ ( Random Hands Gaming )

Unity Tutorial 06

Image
The Ninth showed us to download sky box and applied it to our game. we then looked at different sky box's materials to see how it effects our game . i ended up going for 'New Dawn' because it gave the calm a calm and relaxing feel to the game with the orange and yellow hew. We then added wind zones to our game witch gave our game a more realistic look with the trees moving slowly, also adding a wind radius, this only allows the wind to be perceived depending on how close you are to the trees. (Game Environment) For the next tutorial we learned how to add objects that can be taken in the environment. So we had to write code that allows us to pick up a weapon. The next thing we learned was a fade screen, this is a black screen that displays on the screen for as long as it takes for you character to load into the game, or for as long as you wan it.  Overall i though that this is we an easy tutorial to follow, although i thought they might have been compressed into a s
